Gibson Frethaus

In The spring of 2023 Gibson Guitars U.S.A. sponsored a studio called Frethaus where we were challenged with creating innovative new guitars that would inspire the future of guitarists.  

Beginnings

This project is one of the key reasons I became interested in the Industrial Design program at Auburn and getting a chance to work and learn from Gibson was a dream come true. To begin the Project we had the opportunity to go to Nashville and do site visits at both the Gibson plant where they build their electric guitars as well as their flagship showroom, the Gibson Garage in downtown Nashville. This gave us the chance to familiarize ourselves with traditional guitar construction techniques and gain first-hand experience observing Gibson instruments closely and studying brand history, aesthetics, craftsmanship, and sonic qualities. We also had the opportunity to chat with Gibson CEO, Caesar Gueikian, and brand ambassador Mark Agnesi.
